Washington D.C. — House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that the House will introduce a new bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has said the extra money needed to pay DHS workers will run out by the end of April.

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he wants the Senate to pass the reconciliation package funding ICE and CBP. Trump stated that Democrats have kept DHS shut down since February 14 and urged House Republicans to unify and pass the blueprint to bypass Democratic obstruction in the Senate. He asked for the final bill on his desk by June 1.

The developments reflect ongoing partisan disagreements over immigration enforcement funding and the use of reconciliation procedures. House and Senate Republicans continue negotiations on the budget blueprint and related legislation.
