The woman in the red dress cornered the pregnant wife in her hospital room… then the hospital director walked in and called her “my niece.”

Khloe Thorne was seven months pregnant when Isabella Rossi stepped into her private hospital room wearing a red dress and a smile that did not belong near a patient bed.

The charity gala was still happening downstairs.

Marcus, Khloe’s husband, was supposed to be giving a speech for the hospital foundation. Khloe had come upstairs because the music, perfume, and camera flashes had made her dizzy. She thought she would have ten minutes alone.

Instead, Isabella closed the door behind her.

Khloe tightened one hand over her belly.

“Leave.”

Isabella only smiled and stepped closer in her glossy red heels.

“You were supposed to stay quiet,” she said. “Smile for the cameras. Carry his child. Stay useful.”

Khloe’s face drained of color.

“You’re insane.”

Isabella’s heel stopped inches from the edge of the hospital bed.

“No,” she said softly. “I’m the only one here who understands how this works. Marcus needs the perfect wife until the right moment. Then he needs a scandal-free exit. That’s where you disappear.”

Khloe tried to reach for the call button.

Isabella moved in front of it.

“Get away from my baby,” Khloe whispered.

Her voice was shaking now. Her breathing turned shallow. The heart monitor beside the bed began to quicken.

Isabella leaned closer.

“You’ll give him the child,” she whispered. “Then you’ll learn how invisible a wife can become.”

Khloe clutched her side and looked toward the door.

“Marcus...” she gasped. “Please.”

The door flew open.

Marcus Thorne stood there in a navy suit, breathless from running. For one second, he did not understand what he was seeing. His pregnant wife was curled against the hospital bed, pale and trembling. Isabella was standing over her. A broken water glass glittered on the floor nearby.

Then Isabella turned first.

“She attacked me,” she said, suddenly calm. “Marcus, she lost control.”

Khloe tried to speak, but the pain stole the words from her mouth.

Marcus looked from Isabella to Khloe. For weeks, Isabella had been whispering the same poison into his ear — that Khloe was unstable, jealous, dramatic. For weeks, he had believed enough of it to make himself guilty.

Then another voice came from the doorway.

“Marcus,” the hospital director said coldly, “do not touch your wife until my staff checks the baby.”

Dr. Raymond Hale entered the room.

Marcus barely knew him.

Khloe knew him as Uncle Ray.

Dr. Hale’s eyes went first to the security camera mounted in the corner of the ceiling. Then to Isabella. Then to Marcus.

“I said she is my niece.”

The room went silent.

Khloe’s eyes filled with tears.

“Uncle Ray...”

Marcus looked like the floor had shifted under him.

Dr. Hale stepped beside the bed.

“Security has the footage,” he said. “Isabella entered this room alone. She threatened Khloe. She blocked the call button. She stood over a pregnant patient in a locked room.”

Isabella backed away.

Marcus stared at her.

“What else?” he asked.

Dr. Hale did not take his eyes off him.

“It also recorded you kissing her outside the donor suite ten minutes before your wife collapsed.”

Khloe closed her eyes.

That hurt more than the fear.

Isabella’s voice cracked for the first time.

“Marcus, don’t let him twist this.”

But Marcus finally saw it — the red dress, the manipulation, the rehearsed lies, the timing.

He grabbed Isabella by the shoulders and pulled her away from the bed.

“Get out of this room.”

She looked at him with sudden fury.

“She was never good enough for you.”

Marcus’s face hardened.

“No,” he said quietly. “I was never good enough for her.”

Dr. Hale lifted his phone.

“Security is locking the exits.”

Marcus stepped toward Khloe, but Dr. Hale blocked him with one arm.

“Not yet,” he said. “First, you explain why your mistress knew your wife’s private room number.”

Footsteps thundered down the hallway.

Isabella turned pale.

And in that moment, Marcus understood something worse than betrayal:

the camera had not only exposed the attack.

May you like

It had exposed him too.
