Chapter 2 : The Ashes of Titan

Chapter 2 : The Ashes of Titan
The heavy silence in the boardroom was absolute. When Elena signed the document that terminated Project Titan, it felt as though the oxygen had been sucked out of the room. Employees who had spent years—some their entire adult lives—slaving over the proprietary algorithms of Titan stood in stunned disbelief. To them, it was a legacy. To Elena, it was a cancer, a tool of manipulation and predatory data mining that had been the foundation of Damian’s illicit empire.
Damian, still trembling from the realization of his fall, watched the screen on the wall flicker as the servers began the automated purge. "You're destroying billions," he rasped, his voice sounding thin and hollow. "You're burning the house down with you inside."
Elena stood, her posture regal and untroubled. She smoothed her skirt, the sharp lines of her blazer contrasting with the chaos she had just unleashed. "The house was built on quicksand, Damian. I’m simply reclaiming the land."
She turned her back on him, walking toward the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the city. From this height, the corporate district looked like a miniature model—an empire she now controlled, but one she intended to dismantle.
"Security," she said, not raising her voice, yet the command carried the weight of a judge’s gavel.
Two men in dark suits stepped forward. They didn't drag Damian; they simply waited. The indignity was worse than physical force. The man who had once commanded the floor with a glance was now being ushered out like a common trespasser. As they led him past the rows of stunned executives, Damian looked at his former allies. They were already shifting their chairs, pulling out their phones to secure their own futures, distancing themselves from the man who was no longer a king.
"Elena," Damian hissed as they reached the door. "You think this makes you different? You’re just taking the chair. You’re just taking the power."

Elena turned, her gaze icy. "I’m not taking it, Damian. I’m liquidating it. By the end of the business day, every subsidiary under the Cross umbrella will be dissolved. The assets will be donated to the whistleblower funds and the families you exploited. I’m not becoming a titan. I’m ending the era of them."
As the doors clicked shut, locking Damian out of his own life, Elena felt a strange sensation in her chest—not triumph, but the slow, steady hum of relief. The weight she had carried for twenty years, the silence she had kept, the bruises she had hidden under silk sleeves—it was all finally evaporating. She looked at her reflection in the glass. For the first time, she didn't see the woman Julian or Damian had tried to mold. She saw someone who had mastered the game only to rewrite the rules.
