Chapter 3 : The Audit of the Estate

Chapter 3 : The Audit of the Estate
The corporate execution of Eleanor Vance was not confined to the banquet hall. By 9:00 PM, the shockwaves had traveled straight to the exclusive, gated enclave of the Vance Private Estate in upstate New York.
In the high-ceilinged library of the family's ancestral manor, Eleanor’s husband and co-trustee, Arthur, stood staring at a bank of monitors displaying flashing red notifications. His personal phone was ringing continuously—a frantic, discordant chorus of high-net-worth investors demanding an explanation for the unfolding PR catastrophe.
The heavy mahogany double doors of the library swung open without a warning click.
Two men in identical pitch-black suits stepped inside, followed immediately by Victor, the Global Head of Security Operations. Victor carried a heavy leather folder, his expression entirely devoid of human empathy or professional hesitation.
"Arthur," Victor said, his tone flat and dangerously quiet. "Step away from the terminal."
"Victor! What is the meaning of this intrusion?" Arthur shouted, his face flushing a violent crimson as he slammed his hands onto his desk. "My wife called me from a precinct cell crying! She said she was publicly handcuffed at the gala! This is an unprecedented violation of our operational bylaws!"
Victor didn't raise his voice. He walked to the desk, opened his briefcase with two crisp metallic clicks, and slid a single sheet of watermarked, notarized paper across the glass.
"Your operational bylaws were contingent upon absolute compliance with Section 9 of the Family Trust: the total protection of the brand’s integrity," Victor explained, his sharp eyes locking onto Arthur’s pale face. "Your wife physically assaulted a minor on a live security feed. The Chairman watched the entire incident from the corporate drone feed."
Arthur's breath caught sharply in his throat. The heavy mahogany desk suddenly felt like a sinking ship beneath his palms. "The... the child? The one from the public outreach registry?"
"That child is the Chairman’s legal heir," Victor replied coldly. "The identity files were kept offline to let her live without a security entourage before assuming control of the family estate. You allowed your wife to turn the charity into a feudal hunting ground. Now, the liquidation has arrived."

Marcus’s tablet grid flashed an alert on Victor’s terminal.
"The board has just executed the default clause," Victor continued, adjusting his cuffs. "As of 9:12 PM, your family’s residential clearance is revoked. Your credit facilities are frozen. Your personal property is subject to immediate corporate repossession. You have exactly sixty minutes to vacate the estate before the security team locks the perimeter."
