Chapter 3 : The Collapse of the Dynasty
Back at the Vance estate, the once-proud symbol of aristocratic opulence resembled a tomb. The estate had been placed under immediate court-ordered receivership, its lavish contents tagged for liquidation to satisfy federal restitution demands. Beatrice Vance sat in the formal drawing room, her designer teal blouse stained with spilled tea, staring blankly at the empty space where a multi-million-dollar modern art piece had hung just twenty-four hours prior.

Charles, the patriarch who had looked away from domestic tyranny for decades in the name of preserving social status, poured himself a glass of cheap whiskey from a hidden flask. The illusion of their untouchable legacy had evaporated overnight. Tabloids and financial news networks were broadcasting live outside the wrought-iron security gates, flashing headlines of corporate corruption and domestic abuse that permanently smeared the Vance name across the national stage.
"We have to call our associates, Charles—someone must have pull with the district attorney," Beatrice stammered, her fingers clutching frantically at her pearls. Her voice lacked its usual haughty edge, replaced by the pathetic whine of a queen who had lost her crown.

Charles took a slow, bitter sip of his whiskey, not even looking up at his wife. "There is nobody left to call, Beatrice," he said quietly, his voice hollow with defeat. "Arthur didn't just ruin himself; he exposed every shadow this family hid behind for thirty years. We are pariahs now. The society we built our entire lives around has already locked us out."
As if to punctuate his words, a loud knock echoed from the grand foyer. Federal liquidators and estate auditors stepped across the threshold, armed with clipboards and eviction notices. The magnificent mansion that had served as a golden cage for Eleanor was systematically dismantled, piece by piece, proving that empires built on sand cannot survive the rising tide of accountability.
