Chapter 18 - THE LAST LETTERSix months after the divorce, a letter arrived from Gertrude.
Four pages.
Andrea reviewed it first.
There was no real apology.
Only explanations.
Brandon had always been sensitive.
Charlotte had always been intimidating.
Gertrude had been afraid of losing her son.
Charlotte had worked too much.
She had cared too much about ownership.
Then came the final sentence:
I hope one day Skylar understands that everything I did was to protect her father.
Charlotte read it twice.
Then folded the letter.
She didn't answer.
She kept it.
Not as a reminder of Gertrude.
As a reminder of boundaries.
