Chapter 4 : The Final Dividend

The final meeting with Damian took place in a small, sterile conference room—the kind he used to reserve for vendors he intended to discard. He was no longer dressed in bespoke suits; he looked like a man who had been hollowed out. He had come to beg for a fraction of his holdings, a chance to 'start over.' Elena sat across from him, her posture relaxed, a simple pen in her hand. She listened to his pleas for ten minutes, her face unreadable.

"I can offer you expertise," Damian said, his voice straining for a dignity he had lost. "I know this market. I can bring value." Elena finally looked up, a small, sad smile touching her lips. "Damian, you never understood the difference between a transaction and a contribution. You thought you were the engine of this company, but you were just the friction." She tapped the document on the table. "You aren't getting a dividend. You’re getting a receipt. Your history here is finished."

She stood up, leaving the room before he could speak again. Outside, the world was waiting for her. The empire was stable, the 'expenses' were now the shareholders, and for the first time, she was building a future that didn't require her to hide. She took the elevator to the lobby, where her car was waiting. She didn't look back at the building that had once been her prison. The silence in the car was absolute, and for the first time, it was the sound of a woman who was finally, completely free. The era of the CEO was over; the era of the Founder had truly begun
