Chapter 3: The Boardroom Storm

Chapter 3: The Boardroom Storm

The shattering of the Grand Sterling Hotel lobby was only the first domino. While the internet exploded with viral footage of Victoria being dragged away in handcuffs, a far more dangerous storm was brewing at the very top of the Sterling Empire.

The next morning, the sky over the corporate headquarters was the color of bruised iron. Inside the obsidian-and-glass skyscraper, the air in the 50th-floor boardroom was thick with tension. Eleven board members sat around a massive quartz table, their faces grim as they stared at the empty seat at the head of the table.

"This is an absolute circus," hissed Richard Sterling, Aria’s grand-uncle, slamming his fist onto the table. Richard was a man who wore his greed like a tailored armor, his silver hair perfectly coiffed, his eyes sharp with malice. "A viral video of a G-Wagon smashing through our flagship lobby? A disabled girl claiming she runs the foundation? The press is having a field day! The stock is dropping!"

"The stock is fluctuating, Richard, not dropping," a calm, chillingly familiar voice echoed from the doorway.

The heavy double doors swung open. Marcus walked in first, his gaze sweeping the room like a predator scanning a field. He stepped aside, pulling the door flush against the wall to make room for the motorized wheelchair that followed.

Aria rolled into the room. She was no longer wearing the faded, oversized clothes from the hotel lobby. Today, she wore a bespoke navy-blue blazer over a crisp white silk blouse, her dark hair swept back into a sleek, professional low bun. On her right index finger, the ancient Sterling family ring—a massive, deep-blue sapphire flanked by raw diamonds—caught the harsh fluorescent lights of the boardroom.

A suffocating silence fell over the room.

"Aria," Richard said, his voice instantly dropping into a patronizing, sugary tone that made her skin crawl. "My dear child. We were all shocked by the incident yesterday. But you shouldn't be troubling yourself with corporate matters. You belong in the estate, resting. Your health—"

"My health is perfectly fine, Uncle Richard," Aria cut him off, her voice smooth, level, and entirely devoid of fear. She rolled her chair directly to the head of the table, stopping exactly where her grandfather used to sit. "And I am not troubling myself. I am executing the final directive of the Sterling Patriarch."

Richard’s fake smile faltered, his eyes darting to the leather binder Marcus was now placing on the quartz table. "Your grandfather was not in his right mind during his final days, Aria. The board has already discussed a temporary receivership to manage the assets until you are... legally capable."

"Legally capable?" Marcus stepped forward, his massive frame casting a long shadow over Richard. He opened the binder, sliding three distinct documents across the polished surface. "According to the supreme court ruling finalized at midnight, Miss Aria Sterling is the sole, absolute trustee of the Sterling Foundation. Furthermore, the mental competency evaluations of the late Patriarch were fully verified by three independent international medical boards."

Aria leaned forward, resting her hands on the table. The sapphire ring glared at Richard. "While Manager Victoria was busy abusing guests at the hotel, she was also funneling millions into a shell company registered in the Cayman Islands. A shell company whose primary beneficiary is you, Uncle Richard."

A collective gasp rippled through the board members. Several of them immediately pulled away from Richard, as if financial ruin were contagious.

"That is a baseless, slanderous lie!" Richard shouted, his face turning a dangerous shade of crimson. He stood up, towering over Aria, pointing a shaking finger at her. "You are a fragile, broken girl who doesn't know the first thing about running a global hospitality empire! You think because you have a bodyguard, you can walk in here and strip me of my life's work?"

"I am not stripping you of anything, Richard," Aria said, her voice dropping into a cold, unbreakable whisper that filled every corner of the room. "The federal authorities are doing that for me. Marcus, show them the secondary ledger."

Marcus tapped the screen of the room’s main display. Instantly, thousands of encrypted transaction records flooded the wall-sized monitors. It was a flawless roadmap of embezzlement, corporate espionage, and a deliberate five-year plot to systematically isolate Aria within her family home so Richard could seize control of the empire upon the Patriarch's death.

"You underestimated my grandfather," Aria said, looking at the pale, sweating board members. "And you vastly underestimated me. Security."

The boardroom doors opened, but it wasn't the corporate security team that entered. It was federal agents, their badges gleaming against their dark jackets.

Richard staggered backward, his hand catching the edge of his chair as his arrogant posture completely disintegrated. "Aria... please. We are blood. We can settle this privately!"

"When you left me in that isolated estate for two years without proper medical care, hoping I would quietly fade away, did you think about our blood, Richard?" Aria asked, her gaze steady, magnificent, and entirely unyielding. "When your manager threw me out into the rain yesterday because I didn't look rich enough for your establishment, did you think about dignity?"

Richard had no answer. The agents moved forward, swiftly securing his arms and leading him out of the boardroom in a crushing replay of Victoria's downfall.

Aria turned her chair to face the remaining board members, who were now sitting completely rigid, terrified to even breathe loudly.

"Now," Aria said, a faint, sharp smile playing at the edge of her lips. "Let's discuss the restructuring of the Sterling Foundation. We have a lot of filth to wash away."
