Chapter 2: The Calculated Descent

Chapter 2: The Calculated Descent
The nurse, whose name tag read "Sarah," sagged against the wall, her defiance leaking out of her like blood from an open wound. The man, Elias, didn't release her. He held her there, a prisoner of his own moral gravity, while the hum of the hospital seemed to amplify the silence between them. He wasn't interested in a confession; he had already collected enough evidence to bury her and the entire corrupt administration that had allowed her to thrive.

"The cameras in the east wing," Elias whispered, his voice dangerously soft, "were supposedly down for 'maintenance' every Tuesday night for the last month. Convenient, wouldn't you say?" He pulled a small, ruggedized drive from his pocket and tapped it against her temple. "You weren't just neglecting them, Sarah. You were documenting it. For leverage. For sport."
Her eyes darted to the window, searching for a distraction, a way out. But Elias had anticipated every move. He had been a man of shadows for years, a former investigator who had specialized in uncovering corporate rot. He hadn't come to this facility by chance; he had come to destroy the cancer from within. "You're going to walk into the administrator's office," he commanded, releasing her with a sharp shove that sent her stumbling, "and you are going to tell them that the board of directors is about to receive an anonymous packet containing everything you’ve done. If you want to survive the next hour, you’ll help me unlock the files on their central server."
