CHAPTER 5 : THE BOARDROOM BLITZ

CHAPTER 5 : THE BOARDROOM BLITZ

The swift and absolute financial castration of the Rossi family sent a deafening message across the entire criminal underworld. The Volkov Syndicate was not just a brute force entity; they possessed an intellect and a reach that was entirely terrifying.

For the next three months, Maya buried herself in the legitimat

e fronts of Eleanor’s former empire. Eleanor had used her real estate holdings and shipping companies merely as covers for human trafficking, illegal weapons smuggling, and extortion. Maya systematically dismantled every single illegal operation.

She fired corrupt executives, terminated illegal contracts, and brought in teams of aggressive, highly paid corporate auditors to clean the ledgers.

One rainy Tuesday morning, Maya sat at the head of the massive obsidian conference table inside the towering glass skyscraper that served as the headquarters for Vanguard Shipping—formerly Eleanor’s crown jewel.

The room was filled with the remaining board of directors. These were the old, arrogant men who had happily turned a blind eye to Eleanor’s atrocities as long as their pockets were lined with dirty money. They looked at Maya with a mixture of resentment and barely concealed misogyny.

"Ms. Volkov," sneered Richard Sterling, the senior Vice President and a former close confidant of Eleanor. "While we appreciate the... aggressive restructuring your family has implemented, you cannot simply shut down the private container shipments from Eastern Europe. Those contracts represent thirty percent of our quarterly profit."

"Those private containers were smuggling undocumented workers and illegal firearms, Richard," Maya replied calmly, tapping her expensive fountain pen against the glass table. "The Volkov Syndicate does not deal in human misery, nor do we supply cheap weapons to street gangs. The contracts are permanently terminated."

Sterling slammed his hand on the table, standing up. "You are a naive child playing dress-up in a corporate world! You don't understand how this city works! If you cut off those supply lines, the rival syndicates will form a coalition and wipe us out! The board has convened, and we have enough voting shares to block your executive orders."

Maya stopped tapping her pen. She looked up at Sterling, her icy blue eyes locking onto his flushed, angry face. A terrifying, dead silence descended upon the boardroom.

"You think you have the voting shares, Richard?" Maya asked softly.

She pressed a button on a small remote in her hand. The massive digital screens on the walls of the boardroom flickered to life. Instead of corporate graphs, the screens displayed high-definition security footage, financial wire transfers, and recorded phone conversations.

Sterling’s face drained of all color.

"Last night, you met with the remnants of the Rossi family," Maya stated coldly, her voice echoing through the silent room. "You offered to leave the southern security gates of our shipping ports unlocked in exchange for a two-million-dollar bribe. You were planning to let them steal our legitimate cargo to recoup their losses."

The other board members began to murmur in shock, edging away from Sterling as if he were carrying a deadly plague.

"That... that's doctored footage!" Sterling stammered, sweat beading on his pale forehead. "You have no proof!"

"I have the exact routing numbers of your offshore account in the Cayman Islands," Maya corrected him, sliding a thick manila folder across the table. "I have the recorded audio of your conversation. And more importantly, I have a signed confession from the Rossi capo you met with. He surrendered it quite willingly after my Uncle Elias paid him a brief, midnight visit."

Sterling collapsed back into his leather chair, clutching his chest, his arrogant facade completely annihilated.

"You don't hold the voting shares, Richard," Maya continued, standing up and looming over the table with absolute, commanding authority. "Because as of this morning, I have forwarded this entire portfolio of evidence to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, complete with a request for full corporate immunity for Vanguard Shipping, citing your rogue actions."

"You called the Feds?!" another board member gasped.

"I am cleaning house," Maya said, her voice dropping into a deadly whisper. "Federal agents are waiting in the lobby downstairs right now. Richard, you are going to prison for grand conspiracy and corporate espionage. As for the rest of you..."

She looked slowly around the room, her gaze piercing the soul of every corrupt executive sitting at the table.

May you like

"...You have exactly one hour to sign over your remaining shares to the Volkov Trust and resign from this company. If you refuse, I will personally ensure the FBI auditors examine every single expense report, tax filing, and bank account you have touched for the last ten years. Choose wisely."

Without another word, Maya turned on her heel and walked out of the boardroom. Behind her, she heard the frantic scratching of pens on paper as the terrified executives scrambled to sign away their shares, desperate to escape the wrath of the little girl they had so foolishly underestimated.
