CHAPTER 4 : THE ASHES OF AMBITION

CHAPTER 4 : THE ASHES OF AMBITION
The front door groaned as Arthur slammed his shoulder against it, his face twisted in a mask of manic fury. When the doors finally swung open, revealing the three women standing in the grand foyer like a stone wall, his momentum faltered. He expected to see a cowering, defeated wife; instead, he was met with the icy, unyielding gaze of his mother and the composed, watchful eyes of his wife.

"Get out of my way," Arthur spat, pushing past the butler who had opened the door. "This ends now. I’ve spoken to my lawyers. You’re going to regret this, Mother. You have no right—"
"I have every right," Evelyn interrupted, her voice cutting through his tirade with the precision of a surgeon. "This estate, this company, the very money you’re using to hire those lawyers? It’s all under the foundation’s charter, which, as it turns out, is controlled by me and Beatrice. You were never the owner, Arthur. You were merely the administrator. And your administration has come to an end."
Arthur stopped in the center of the foyer, his face flushing a deep, dangerous red. He looked around as if expecting his security detail to swoop in and rectify the situation, but the guards stood motionless, their loyalty having already shifted to the person signing their new contracts: Evelyn.
"You think you can just do this?" Arthur laughed, a sound that bordered on hysteria. "Without me, this company falls. You don't know how to run a business. You’re just a bunch of socialites playing at power."
"We’ve been watching you for years, Arthur," Elena stepped forward, her voice steady and clear. "We watched you cheat your partners. We watched you embezzle funds. We even have the files you thought you deleted." She held up a small, innocuous-looking flash drive.
Arthur’s bravado seemed to deflate, a literal change in his posture as he stared at the drive. For the first time, he looked truly frightened. "You wouldn't," he whispered.
"I wouldn't have," Elena replied, moving closer until they were inches apart. "But you broke me, Arthur. And in the process, you taught me exactly how cold-blooded you had to be to survive in your world. You gave me the weapons, and now, I’m going to use them."
The drama unfolded over the next few hours with surgical precision. Arthur’s phone began to light up with notifications—the board was calling, the SEC was requesting documentation, and his personal bank accounts had been frozen by a court order. The life he had built, the fortress he had painstakingly erected around himself, was dissolving in real-time.
He tried to scream, to threaten, to lash out, but the security team—the same men who had once obeyed his every whim—simply escorted him toward the door. As he was being removed, he looked back at the house, his eyes filled with a mixture of disbelief and pure, unadulterated hatred.

"You’ll lose everything!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the marble floors. "You think you’re winning? This is just the beginning!"
But his voice was lost to the wind. The heavy oak doors clicked shut, locking him out of the only world he had ever known. Inside, the silence returned, but this time it wasn't heavy. It was the sound of a slate being wiped clean.
