CHAPTER 4 : THE SHADOW IN THE BOARDROOM

CHAPTER 4 : THE SHADOW IN THE BOARDROOM
The revelation hit Julian like a physical blow, but years of navigating the ruthless corporate world had taught him one vital lesson: never show your enemy that you know they are hunting you. He instructed the estate security to double their perimeter patrols and explicitly revoked Silas Thorne's physical access to the mansion.
Over the next forty-eight hours, the Vance estate transformed into a fortified war room. Julian and Nora spent sleepless nights locked inside their father’s underground library, poring over decades of financial records, trust agreements, and hidden corporate ledgers.

"Look at this," Nora said late one evening, sliding a heavy, leather-bound ledger across the grand oak table. She circled a series of offshore wire transfers with a red pen. "Before my father died, he allocated a massive portion of the company's shares into a blind trust—specifically designated for his 'lost heir.' Me."
Julian leaned over, his eyes scanning the complex routing numbers. "The trust was designed to unlock the moment you were legally identified and proven to be his daughter through DNA," Julian muttered, piecing the puzzle together. "If you were never found, the trust would eventually dissolve, and the shares would default back to the board of directors."
"Which Silas Thorne controls," Nora finished the thought, a cold shiver running down her spine. "That’s why Rebecca wanted me out of the way. Silas hired her to seduce you, isolate Mother, and quietly eliminate both of us so he could inherit the entire Vance empire legally."
"He underestimated us," Julian growled, slamming his fist onto the table, his eyes burning with a dangerous, calculated fire. "He thought because you were a maid, you wouldn't understand corporate structuring. He thought I was blinded by a pretty face. We are going to tear his empire of lies to the ground."
The following morning, Julian received an urgent, encrypted email from the corporate headquarters. Silas had convened a hostile board meeting, citing Julian’s "emotional instability" following his fiancée's arrest as grounds for immediate removal as CEO. If the board voted in Silas’s favor, Julian would lose the power to audit the accounts, and Silas would bury the evidence of his collusion with Rebecca forever.
"I have to go to the tower," Julian said, adjusting his bespoke suit and checking his silver cufflinks. He looked at Nora, who was dressed in a stunning, sharply tailored navy pantsuit that Eleanor had ordered for her. The transformation was breathtaking; she looked every bit the powerful heiress she was born to be.

"You aren't going alone," Nora stated firmly, picking up a sleek leather briefcase containing the original DNA results and the forged documents Silas had drafted for Rebecca. "He tried to destroy this family. Today, he faces all of us."
Julian smiled proudly, offering his arm to his sister. "Let's go show the board who really owns this company."
