Chapter 4 : The Boardroom Blitz

Chapter 4 : The Boardroom Blitz
The next morning, the Vanguard Holdings executive boardroom was a theater of war.
Richard Blackwood and Victoria barged through the double doors, flanked by a dozen high-priced corporate lawyers. Richard possessed a court order in his hand, a smug, victorious sneer plastered across his face.

Marcus sat calmly at the head of the long mahogany table. He looked immaculate in a pitch-black suit, sipping a cup of black coffee. He didn't even flinch as the Blackwood patriarch threw the legal documents onto the polished wood.
"It's over, Marcus," Richard announced, his voice dripping with condescension. "This is an emergency custody mandate signed by a supreme court judge. You are being evaluated for psychological instability following your public meltdown last night. Until you are cleared, the child will be placed in the custody of my daughter, her legal aunt by marriage."
Victoria stepped forward, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Tell the nanny to pack the brat's things, Marcus. She’s coming with us. And if you ever want to see her again, you’re going to sign over your voting rights in Vanguard."
Marcus slowly set his coffee cup down. He looked at the legal papers, then looked up at Richard and Victoria. He didn't yell. He didn't panic. He simply started laughing—a dark, chilling sound that made the hairs on the back of Victoria's neck stand up.
"You think you hold the cards, Richard?" Marcus asked softly, pressing a single button on a remote control.
The massive LED screens lining the boardroom walls instantly flickered to life. Instead of financial projections, the screens displayed high-resolution bank transfers, encrypted emails, and recorded audio files. The Blackwood lawyers instantly froze, the color draining from their faces.
"What is this?" Richard demanded, his voice suddenly faltering.
"This," Marcus said, his voice dropping to a lethal whisper, "is a digital footprint of every bribe you paid to the safety inspectors to ignore the gas leak at my sister’s apartment. It is a record of the offshore accounts you used to hire the arsonist. And the audio file is Victoria, complaining to your fixers that Elena was still trying to contact me."
Victoria gasped, taking a stumbling step backward. "No... that's impossible. We erased everything!"

"You erased what was on your servers," Marcus corrected, his eyes locking onto his ex-wife with absolute disgust. "But Elena was a Sterling. She backed everything up on a physical drive and hid it where you would never look. Because you lack the one thing my family has always valued: loyalty."
Marcus stood up, buttoning his suit jacket. "That custody order is worthless, Richard. Because as of ten minutes ago, the FBI, the SEC, and the District Attorney’s office all received these files. I didn't just freeze your daughter's accounts last night. I used Vanguard's liquid capital to aggressively buy out all of your company's debt. I own the Blackwood empire. And I am liquidating it to zero."
