Chapter 6: The Unseen Footage

The war room was established deep in the basement of Julian's estate. It looked like a high-tech editing bay for a blockbuster film. Multiple glowing monitors lined the walls, tracking offshore bank transfers, security footage, and digital footprints.
Marcus, Julian's head of security, stood by the main monitor, clicking through a series of encrypted files. Clara stood beside Julian, holding a cup of black coffee.
"Viktor’s estate is a fortress," Marcus explained, pointing to a satellite image of the mansion where the nightmare occurred. "But every fortress has a flaw. Viktor is incredibly paranoid. He installed hidden microphones and cameras in every room to blackmail his elite guests. The police didn't find the servers because they were hidden behind a false wall in the wine cellar."
"How do you know this?" Julian asked.
Marcus smirked. "Because the contractor who built the false wall is a guy named Benny. Benny owes me a favor from our days in Kabul. We managed to remotely clone Viktor’s internal server before he wiped it."
Marcus hit the spacebar. The large screen flickered to life.
It was high-definition footage from Viktor’s private study, dated three days before the party. Viktor and Elena were sitting on leather couches. The audio was crystal clear.
"The trust fund defaults to you if the child is out of the picture," Viktor's voice echoed in the dark basement. "The pool is deep. Children fall in all the time. It is a tragic, unavoidable accident. And once you inherit Starlight Studios, I will transfer fifty million into your Cayman account in exchange for the voting shares."
"I'll do it," Elena’s voice replied, utterly cold and devoid of hesitation. "I never wanted the brat anyway. I just wanted Julian's empire."
Julian stared at the screen, his blood turning to ice. Hearing the premeditated cruelty of it, the absolute lack of humanity, made him feel physically sick. But then, the sickness was rapidly replaced by a surging, unstoppable fire of vengeance.
"This is it," Clara said, her eyes wide. "This is conspiracy to commit murder. This is corporate espionage. This ties Viktor directly to the attempted assassination of your daughter. We take this to the DA, and they both go away for life."
"No," Julian said quietly.
Clara and Marcus both looked at him in shock. "Julian, this is the silver bullet!" Clara urged.
"If we give this to the DA, Viktor’s lawyers will tie it up in court for years. They’ll claim it was illegally obtained. They’ll suppress the evidence," Julian said, his mind working at lightning speed, analyzing the plot like a master storyteller. "Viktor wants to destroy my public image. He wants to take my company. He thrives on public perception."

Julian turned to face them, his eyes burning with absolute authority.
"We don't give this to the police just yet. Next week is the Starlight Studios Annual Charity Gala. It is being broadcast live to millions of people. Viktor will be there, playing the philanthropic billionaire. Elena is currently out on bail, and I guarantee Viktor is forcing her to attend to keep up appearances. We are going to debut a very special short film for our guests."
