Chapter 4 : The Facade Crumbles

By morning, the "Empire" was already shaking. Arthur, having spent the night in a luxury hotel suite, was not idle. He had already begun contacting his lawyers, attempting to freeze the family assets and paint the women in the house as hysterical and unstable. He was a master of the PR narrative; he knew how to spin a headline to ruin a reputation.

Clara, now feeling the weight of the fight, sat in the sunroom, scrolling through the news alerts that were already starting to circulate. 'Arthur Vance, Industrialist, Faces Family Crisis,' one headline read. Arthur’s PR team was already working overtime.

"Let him talk," Beatrice advised, sipping tea with alarming calm. "When a man like Arthur starts screaming about 'loyalty' and 'betrayal,' it’s only because he’s terrified of the truth."

The drama accelerated when the police arrived—at Arthur’s request—under the guise of a 'wellness check' to recover his 'personal property.' He hoped to storm the house, reclaim his leverage, and silence the women. But the matriarch had been one step ahead. When the officers entered, they were met not by weeping women, but by a legal team assembled by Eleanor, and a stack of documents detailing years of domestic coercion and financial extortion.

The officers, caught in the middle of a high-society scandal, looked at the evidence. The lead officer, a man who had clearly been influenced by Arthur in the past, shifted uncomfortably. "Mrs. Vance, we have an order to ensure Mr. Vance's access to his documents."

"The documents belong to the company, Officer," Eleanor said, stepping forward. "And the company is currently under forensic audit due to the evidence we’ve provided to the authorities. My son is no longer authorized to enter this property."

Arthur, standing behind the police line, watched as his influence shattered. He tried to speak, to charm, to threaten, but for the first time, no one was listening to him. He was just a man in an expensive suit, and his power was evaporating with every second the sun stayed in the sky.
