Chapter 6: The Unfinished Ribbon

Chapter 6: The Unfinished Ribbon

Six months later.

The Grayson company had rebranded, moving away from aggressive acquisitions toward sustainable, community-focused projects. It wasn't the empire it used to be, but it was solid, and it was respected.

Marcus didn't return to the penthouse. He stayed in his apartment, living a quiet, purposeful life. However, the biggest change happened on a Sunday afternoon.

He was sitting in a park when he saw her. Maya was walking with her mother, who stopped to take a call. Maya wandered toward the pond, spotting Marcus. She didn't run away. She hesitated, then walked over.

She looked at him, her expression unreadable. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a new, clean ribbon, matching the color of the one he had carried for months.

“You helped Mom save the house,” she said, her voice small but steady. “Everyone says you’re different now.”

Marcus knelt down, meeting her eyes. “I had to lose everything to find out who I was supposed to be, Maya. I’m sorry for all the time I missed.”

Maya didn't hug him—not yet—but she sat down on the bench beside him. It was a tentative beginning, a fragile bridge built over the wreckage of the past.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden light over the city, Marcus realized that he had finally achieved what he wanted. He didn't have his empire, he didn't have his old life, and he didn't have his wealth. But he had a chance. And in the end, that was worth more than all the gold in the world. He was, finally, a father.
