Chapter 3: The Blueprint of Integrity

The morning sun cast a bright, golden glow over the sleek, newly painted lobby of the corporate headquarters. Gone was the oppressive, icy aesthetic that had defined Evelyn’s reign. In its place, warm wood accents, vibrant green plants, and an atmosphere of collaborative energy welcomed every employee who walked through the revolving doors.

Sarah stepped off the elevator, smoothing the lapel of her tailored navy-blue blazer. Her new office on the forty-fifth floor was spacious and sunlit, offering a sweeping view of the city skyline where she had once walked in perpetual fear. On her desk sat a sleek, gold-plated nameplate reading: Sarah Jenkins, Director of Financial Security.

A soft knock interrupted her thoughts. Victor pushed the door open, holding two steaming cups of artisan coffee. He smiled, handing one across the desk.

"Settling in alright?" Victor asked, leaning casually against the doorframe.

Sarah took the cup, inhaling the rich aroma. "It still feels a bit like a dream, Victor. Sometimes I catch myself looking over my shoulder, expecting... well, you know."

"She’s three hundred miles away in a maximum-security facility with no phone privileges and twenty-five years to think about her mistakes," Victor reminded her gently, his expression softening. "The only thing you need to worry about today is our morning strategy meeting with the new ethics board."

Sarah nodded, a confident smile replacing her momentary hesitation. "The updated compliance protocols are fully active. Every transaction over ten thousand dollars now requires dual authorization, and the new anonymous whistleblower portal has already processed twelve legitimate internal audits this week alone."

"Evelyn built an empire on secrecy and fear," Victor said, his voice firm with absolute resolve. "We are going to build ours on absolute transparency and mutual trust. Come on, the board is waiting."
