Chapter 11 - SIXTEEN HOURSInside the CROSS folder was a financial transfer scheduled for nine the next morning.

Twelve-point-six million dollars.
Four offshore companies.
Two forged approvals.
One stolen security token.
Elena's name appeared beside Damian's.
Rachel stared at the screen.
“She built a legal trail.”
Elena looked at her forged signature.
“She was going to bury me.”
Damian's voice was flat.
“Not anymore.”
Emergency warrants were issued.
Banks were notified.
Police searched for Vanessa.
But there was one problem.
The security token was still missing.
And Vanessa knew how to use it.
Marcus found a location.
A storage facility in Manhattan.
Damian looked at Elena.
“You stay here.”
“No.”
“Elena—”
“She put my name in the system.”
“This isn't your fight.”
Elena stared at him.
“That stopped being true when she used my child.”
Ninety minutes later, they watched Vanessa enter Storage Facility 417.
She carried a red leather purse.
Then Owen appeared.
He stepped out of an alley.
He looked directly toward Damian's unmarked vehicle.
And smiled.
Marcus whispered:
“He knows we're here.”

Damian's eyes narrowed.
“Then let's make sure he knows we're not afraid.”
