Chapter 4: Breach

Chapter 4: Breach
The front windows shattered simultaneously.
It wasn't rocks or bricks; the Syndicate bikers used heavy-duty magnetic harpoons, tearing the entire aluminum window frame outward in a shower of glass and screeching metal. Black-helmeted enforcement officers, clad in reinforced sub-dermal armor, poured through the gap.
"Get down!" Prime roared.
He didn't run away from the breach; he sprinted directly into it. The lead officer raised a high-impact shock rifle and fired point-blank. The compressed plasma slug hit Prime squarely in the chest, but instead of tearing through flesh, the blue energy of the blast was violently sucked into the silver cylinder at his belt.
The cylinder flared to a blinding violet light.
"My turn," Prime muttered.
He slammed his palm against the floorboards. The stored kinetic energy from the plasma slug discharged downward in a massive, localized shockwave. The floorboards buckled, and a violent concussive ripple tore through the diner, throwing four armored officers backward through the shattered storefront and flipping two heavy iron booths upside down.
Claire shielded her head as plaster dust and fiberglass insulation rained down like snow. Through the haze, she saw Prime moving like a tempest—catching batons, redirecting shotgun blasts into the ceiling, and dismantling the Syndicate strike team with terrifying, surgical precision. Every hit he took only made his next strike twice as fast, twice as devastating.

But the sheer numbers were overwhelming. Three officers managed to tackle the old man from behind, pinning his arms with heavy magnetic cuffs that hissed as they locked into his skin.
"We have the asset!" one of them yelled into his comms. "Initiating retrieval!"
