She held her crying daughter close against her chest to keep her safe from harm.
Elena: Ethan... she is your daughter!
Ethan froze completely as those four heavy words echoed through his mind repeatedly.
He slowly looked down at the terrified little girl crying in her mother's arms.
Lily: Daddy!
The word pierced straight through Ethan's heart and shattered all his remaining doubts.
He rushed forward and dropped to his knees right beside Elena and the child.
He reached out his trembling hands and wrapped his arms around both of them tightly.
Ethan: Is it really true, Elena? Is she truly my baby girl?
Elena: Yes, Ethan! Victoria paid the doctors to forge papers and force me away seven years ago!
Elena: She threatened to hurt my family if I ever tried to contact you again!
Victoria struggled to sit up against the broken glass on the marble floor.
Her face was red and swollen, and her fancy blonde hair was a complete mess.
Victoria: She is lying to you, Ethan! She just wants our family inheritance money!
Ethan: Shut your mouth, Victoria! I saw what you were doing with that wooden stick!
Ethan pulled out his mobile phone and dialed a number with furious, shaking fingers.
Ethan: I am calling our family lawyer and the police department right this second.
Victoria: Ethan, please listen to me, I did everything to protect our estate and marriage!
Ethan: You are a monster, and you will spend years behind heavy prison bars for this!
The police sirens began to wail loudly in the distance, approaching the massive home quickly.
Ethan looked down at Lily and gently wiped the hot tears from her cheeks.
Ethan: You never have to be afraid again, my sweet little girl.
