CHAPTER 4 : DISMANTLING THE VAULT

CHAPTER 4 : DISMANTLING THE VAULT
The morning sun broke over the city, casting sharp golden beams across the glass-and-steel facade of Vance Global Enterprises. But inside the executive penthouse boardroom, there was no light—only the cold, sterile glow of emergency monitors and the tense whispers of panicked board members.

The emergency board meeting had been convened at 6:00 AM. Twenty of the city’s most powerful executives sat around the obsidian table, their faces pale, staring at the empty leather chair at the head of the room where Julian Vance usually presided.
"The stock has plummeted thirty-four percent in pre-market trading," a senior board member named Marcus Vance—a distant cousin who had long opposed Julian’s reckless leadership—announced, slamming a financial report onto the table. "Federal agents have frozen all corporate liquidity. The insurance fraud investigation has triggered cross-audits across all our shipping ports. We are facing immediate insolvency."
"Where is Julian?" another executive stammered nervously. "Can't his lawyers get him out of this?"
"He's in a maximum-security federal holding cell facing twenty years of hard time," a calm, chilling voice echoed from the doorway of the boardroom.
Every head snapped toward the entrance.
Sophia strode into the room, flanked by two armed federal marshals and her chief legal counsel. She wasn't wearing her evening gown anymore; she wore a razor-sharp, charcoal-gray pantsuit that radiated absolute executive power. Her presence commanded the room instantly, silencing every murmur.
Marcus Vance stood up slowly, staring at her in utter bewilderment. "Who are you? This is a private corporate session. You have no right to—"
"I have every right," Sophia interrupted smoothly, walking to the head of the table and placing a thick leather-bound portfolio directly onto Julian’s empty chair. She rested her hands on the backrest, looking around the room with piercing authority.
"My name is Sophia Vance—no relation to the disgraced heir," she stated clearly. "More importantly, as the President of the International Oversight and Security Coalition, my agency has been legally appointed by the federal judiciary as the provisional receiver of all liquidated Vance assets."
A collective gasp rippled through the boardroom.
"You... you're the receiver?" Marcus choked out, his eyes widening in horror as he realized the magnitude of the takeover.
"Julian’s empire was built on a foundation of sand, extortion, and fraudulent insurance schemes," Sophia continued, her voice ringing out with unyielding power. "For years, he exploited his workers, bribed local officials, and trampled on anyone who stood in his way—culminating in his vile assault on an innocent six-year-old child last night."
She opened the portfolio, sliding certified court orders across the obsidian table to the trembling executives.

"Effective immediately, Vance Global Enterprises is officially restructured. All existing board members who had knowledge of Julian’s financial manipulation are hereby suspended pending federal investigation. The remaining assets will be audited, cleansed, and repurposed to compensate the victims of his corporate corruption."
"You can't do this!" one of the junior directors protested, standing up. "We built this company!"

"You enabled a monster," Sophia corrected coldly, locking eyes with him until he instinctively sank back into his seat. "The era of unchecked corporate tyranny in this city is over. Consider yourselves dismissed."
As Sophia turned and walked out of the boardroom, leaving the fallen empire in ruins behind her, she knew the corporate battle was won. But her most important battle—healing her daughter and restoring their peace—was happening back at home.
