Chapter 14 - The Winter Wedding

Exactly one year later, the Alpine Lodge was closed to the public for a private event. The grand ballroom was transformed into a winter wonderland, not by a blizzard, but by thousands of white roses, twinkling fairy lights, and crystal chandeliers.
I stood at the top of the grand staircase, wearing a custom white silk gown that trailed like snow behind me. I took a deep breath, looking down at the crowd. Everyone was there. Sarah was one of my bridesmaids. Marcus, the concierge, was standing near the front, wiping a tear from his eye.
And at the end of the aisle stood Alexander. He looked at me as if I were the only person in the universe.
As I walked down the aisle, the string quartet played a soft, beautiful melody. I thought about the journey that had brought me here. The betrayal, the anger, the fight for survival. It had all led to this moment, to this man, and to this beautiful, thriving family of a company we had built together.
We exchanged vows we wrote ourselves. We promised to challenge each other, to protect each other, and to never stop fighting for what was right.
When the priest finally said, "You may kiss the bride," Alexander didn't hesitate. He pulled me into a passionate, breathless kiss as the entire room erupted in cheers and applause.
Later that night, as the party raged in the ballroom, Alexander and I slipped out onto the snow-covered terrace. The mountain air was crisp and clean. The stars were brilliant above us.
"To us," Alexander whispered, wrapping his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder.
"To the future," I replied, leaning back against his chest, looking out over the mountain that was finally, truly, ours.

We had taken a legacy built on greed and transformed it into a beacon of hope and humanity. The drama was behind us, the villains were vanquished, and the Alpine Lodge was standing stronger than ever.
It was, in every sense of the word, a happily ever after.
