CHAPTER 3 : THE COLLAPSE OF THE TITAN

CHAPTER 3 : THE COLLAPSE OF THE TITAN
The wail of police sirens pierced the damp night air outside the towering glass penthouse, a stark, screeching soundtrack to the total and utter collapse of Julian Vance’s empire. Inside, the grand ballroom was frozen in a suffocating vacuum of shock. The wealthy elites who had spent the evening sipping vintage champagne and bowing to Julian’s manufactured supremacy now scattered like frightened mice, whispering frantically into their smartphones, eager to distance themselves from a man whose name was suddenly synonymous with ruin.

Evelyn Vance sat in the back of a sleek, unmarked federal vehicle parked just beyond the flashing red and blue lights. The leather interior was cool and quiet, a stark contrast to the roaring storm of emotions still echoing in her chest. She held Lily tightly in her lap, the little girl’s head resting softly against her mother’s shoulder. The medical kit provided by the remorseful head of security had done its job; Lily’s small forehead had been thoroughly cleaned and bandaged, and the bleeding had completely stopped.
"Are you feeling better, my angel?" Evelyn whispered, brushing a stray dark curl away from her daughter’s face with infinite gentleness.
Lily blinked her large, luminous eyes, looking up at her mother with a mixture of residual fear and deep, anchoring trust. "I’m okay, Mommy. But the bad man was very mean."
"He was, sweetheart," Evelyn replied, her voice dropping into a fierce, protective cadence. "And because he was mean, the law has taken him away. He will never, ever be able to cross our path again. You are entirely safe."
Outside the tinted window, the heavy glass doors of the penthouse lobby swung open. Federal agents emerged, leading Julian and Victoria toward separate squad cars. Victoria was a sobbing, hysterical mess, her designer gold gown stained with dirt and tears as she shrieked denials into the night wind. Julian, on the other hand, walked with a rigid, hollow posture. His tailored suit jacket was rumpled, his face slick with cold sweat, and his arrogant eyes were blank—mirrors of a man who had just watched his entire life burn to ash in a matter of minutes.
Marcus Thorne, the lead federal marshal who had overseen the operation, tapped softly on the passenger-side window and opened the door. The crisp night air rushed in, carrying the scent of rain and city asphalt.
"The suspects are secured and en route to federal processing, Evelyn," Marcus reported, his voice low and professional. "Local authorities are assisting with crowd control, and the digital forensics team is already securing Julian’s primary servers at his corporate headquarters before anyone can wipe them."
"Good," Evelyn nodded, sliding out of the vehicle with Lily safely cradled in her arms. "I want every single offshore account frozen before sunrise. Do not give his legal team a single hour to maneuver."
"Consider it done," Marcus assured her, offering a respectful nod. "The medical van is waiting around the corner to give Lily a full professional checkup, just to ensure there’s no concussion from the fall or the blow."
"Thank you, Marcus. Let's get it done."

As they navigated through the chaotic sea of media vans and flashing cameras, the press caught sight of Evelyn. Microphones thrust forward into the damp air, and camera flashes blinded the night. “Ms. Vance! Ms. Vance! Is it true you orchestrated the entire sting from the inside? What does this mean for Vance Enterprises?”
Evelyn didn’t break her stride. She shielded Lily’s face against her crimson gown, her expression an unyielding mask of regal authority. She didn't owe the vultures a single word tonight. The courtroom would do all the talking tomorrow.
