Ethan ran into his father's arms.
Vanessa pointed.
“He's unstable!”
Lily climbed onto the conference table.
“No.”
Her tiny voice silenced the room.
“She hit us.”
Vanessa laughed.
“She’s frightened.”
“So am I.”
Lily's voice shook.
“But I know you're lying.”
Robert connected his tablet.
The dashcam footage played.
Rachel.
The red umbrella.
Vanessa.
Henry.
The shove.
The crash.
The room fell silent.
Vanessa backed away.
“Fake.”
Robert displayed forensic verification.
Then Maria's confession appeared.
The chairman looked sick.
Michael stood beside his children.
Vanessa stared at him.
“You think this makes you innocent?”
Michael said nothing.
“You left them with me.”
The words struck him.
Because they were true.
He had trusted her.
He had worked late.
He had assumed money and security were enough.
Lily reached for his hand.
Before Michael could answer, the lights dimmed.
A red warning appeared.
FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM ARMED.
