Uncle Reed apologized.

Sorrel stared at him.
“She chained me.”
“Yes.”
“So the scene already happened.”
He cried.
Aunt Gloria admitted she believed Aurelia had my approval.
Sorrel asked:
“Did you ask Dad?”
“No.”
“Why?”
Gloria had no answer.
Not every relative received the same judgment.
A teenage cousin had been present but lacked adult authority.
Another guest had left before the chain was attached.
Sorrel learned accountability in degrees.
She forgave some.
Limited others.
Cut off Aurelia's sister completely when she called the prosecution “family destruction.”
No one forced reconciliation.
