Chapter 5 - The Zurich Extraction

The revelation rattled the foundation of Grant's world. Clara was alive. Stolen away, held in a secret facility across the Atlantic, while her daughter was left traumatized and abused by the very people who had taken her.
"We leave for Switzerland in four hours," Grant ordered, his decision instantaneous.
"Mr. Callahan, with all due respect, taking a private jet into Zurich right now is walking into a trap," Marcus warned. "Julian Vane controls the security apparatus around St. Jude. The moment your plane clears European airspace, he’ll know."
"Then we don't take a private jet," Grant snapped. "We charter a cargo transport under a false manifest. Marcus, prepare the tactical team. Emma, you're coming with us."
"And Lily?" Emma asked urgently. "You can't leave her here. If Julian realizes we know about Clara, this house will be the first place he hits."
Grant looked toward the monitor showing the nursery camera feed. Lily was curled under her blankets, holding her plush bear tightly. "Lily comes with us. She stays in my sight until this is over."
Three hours later, a non-descript Gulfstream charter lifted off from a private tarmac in New Jersey, vanishing into the storm clouds heading eastward across the Atlantic. Inside the cabin, Grant sat across from Lily, holding her tiny hand.
For two years, he had believed his wife was dead and his daughter was lost inside her own mind. Now, the fog of grief had cleared, replaced by a cold, burning resolve.
"Daddy?" Lily whispered, looking out the oval window at the dark ocean below.
"I'm right here, baby," Grant said gently.

"Is Mommy waiting for us?"
Grant looked over at Emma, who gave him a solemn nod. He looked back at his daughter, squeezing her hand tight. "Yes, Lily. We're going to bring her home."
