Chapter 10: The Shattered Chain

Chapter 10: The Shattered Chain

A blinding pulse of sapphire-blue energy erupted from the cylinder, expanding outward in a massive, spherical shockwave that tore through the grand ballroom.
Every crystal chandelier flickered violently. The massive LED screen behind Silas shattered into a million sparks. The floating holographic displays exploded in bursts of static. Across the entire 50th floor, every phone, camera, and electronic device fried instantly, plunging the room into chaotic darkness, illuminated only by the emergency red floor lights.
On stage, Silas screamed in agonizing pain as his golden wrist terminal exploded in a shower of sparks, burning his hand.
In the darkness, Victoria gasped, clutching her chest as a intense warmth flooded through her collarbone. The blue cybernetic light beneath her skin flared brightly for a second, then faded into absolute, permanent darkness. Beside her, Elena closed her eyes as a soft popping sound echoed behind her left ear.
When Elena opened her eyes, the cold red glow was gone forever. Both of her eyes were a warm, luminous brown, completely clear, completely free.
“The chips...” Victoria whispered, feeling her own neck in disbelief. “They’re inert! The signal is dead!”
Panic erupted in the ballroom as billionaire investors scrambled for the exits in absolute terror.
On stage, Silas Vance clutched his burned wrist, his face contorted in pure, unhinged rage. He pulled a concealed silver pistol from his suit jacket, aiming straight for Elena. “If I can’t control you,” he screamed, “no one will!”
“Silas!” Julian roared.
Julian sprinted up the stage steps with superhuman speed born of pure adrenaline. As Silas pulled the trigger, Julian tackled him to the marble floor. The gun went off, the bullet shattering a glass pillar behind them.
They wrestled violently on the stage floor. Silas, driven by mad desperation, tried to gouge Julian’s eyes, but Julian grabbed Silas’s wrist, twisting it until the gun clattered uselessly across the floor. Julian delivered a devastating right hook straight to Silas’s jaw, sending the evil tycoon crashing onto his back, unconscious and bleeding.
At that exact moment, the heavy auditorium doors were kicked open.
A tactical squad of Federal Agents and Interpol officers flooded into the room, their weapons raised, led by Marcus—the high-ranking federal investigator who had been secretly tracking Vanguard’s illegal human trafficking operations for years.
“Federal Agents! Don't move!” Marcus barked through a megaphone.
Marcus walked up the stage steps, looking down at the fallen Silas Vance, then at Julian, Victoria, and Elena.
“Julian Moretti,” Marcus said, bowing his head in deep respect. “We received your encrypted broadcast ten minutes ago. The mansion’s security footage, the medical files, the corporate wiretaps—it’s all on every federal server in the country. Vanguard Biotech is officially seized.”
Federal officers immediately moved in, placing heavy steel handcuffs on the unconscious Silas Vance and dragging him away.

Julian turned around on the stage. Elena rushed into his arms, burying her face in his chest as she sobbed tears of pure relief and joy. Victoria walked up beside them, placing her hand gently over Julian’s shoulder, looking at the two of them with deep, maternal pride.
The nightmare was finally, completely over.
