Chapter 14: The Whistleblower's Gambit

While Julian celebrated his permanent custody victory, Arthur Blackwood’s world was crumbling into dust.
Following the public release of the bridge footage and the certified digital evidence Marcus provided to federal prosecutors, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the FBI launched a joint raid on Blackwood Global’s corporate headquarters on Wall Street.
Arthur’s fraudulent schemes, offshore embezzlement, and illegal coercion tactics were laid bare across every major newspaper and news network in the world. The company’s stock plunged by sixty percent in a single day, causing panic among shareholders and board members.
Desperate to avoid prison, Victoria Sterling turned state's evidence, providing federal prosecutors with complete testimony detailing Arthur’s personal authorization of all illegal acts—including the frame-up against Julian.
Late on a Thursday afternoon, while Julian was painting a wooden bench on his cottage porch, a helicopter bearing the insignia of Blackwood Global landed in the open field near the bay.
Out stepped Lord Harrison Vance—the eldest member of the Blackwood Global Board of Directors and one of the few remaining ethical elders of the corporate dynasty.
Harrison walked up the stone path, holding a wooden cane, his face lined with deep regret and exhaustion.
"Julian," Harrison said softly, standing at the base of the porch steps.
"Harrison," Julian acknowledged, setting his paintbrush down. "You came a long way from Manhattan."
"The board fired Arthur this morning," Harrison revealed, his voice trembling slightly. "He was arrested by federal marshals two hours ago at his penthouse. Victoria has confessed everything. You have been completely exonerated of all allegations, Julian. Your name is clear."
Julian nodded slowly, feeling no joy in Arthur’s downfall—only a quiet, solemn sense of justice served. "And Blackwood Global?"
"It’s failing," Harrison admitted painfully. "The board is in complete chaos. The banks are pulling their loans. Thousands of innocent employees will lose their jobs, pensions, and livelihoods within weeks unless someone with absolute authority and integrity takes control. The board voted unanimously this morning to offer you full reinstatement as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board."

Harrison held out a gold-embossed leather portfolio containing the board’s unconditional offer.
"They are ready to hand you back the entire empire, Julian," Harrison said earnestly. "You can have it all back."
