Chapter 10: The Unseen Trap

The public confrontation in Whispering Bay sent shockwaves back to the Blackwood headquarters in Manhattan. Arthur Blackwood was furious. His attempt to quietly finalize the coastal deal had turned into a public relations headache, threatening to disrupt a multi-billion dollar credit line the company desperately needed.
Three days later, Julian received a formal court summons. It wasn't just about the coastal development—Arthur had escalated his attack. Taking advantage of the financial fraud rumors Victoria had planted, Arthur had backed Cynthia—Elara’s distant, estranged aunt—to file an emergency legal motion to re-evaluate Julian’s parental fitness based on 'financial instability and criminal liability.'
When Julian read the legal notice on his kitchen table, his hands shook with a rare, cold fury.
"They're coming for Elara again," Julian whispered, staring out at the darkening sea.
Clara, who had dropped off a basket of fresh apples from her family's orchard, placed a warm hand over his trembling fingers. "They want to break your spirit, Julian. They know that as long as you are calm and happy with Elara, they have no power over you."
"I can survive losing my fortune, my prestige, my name," Julian said, his voice raw with emotion. "But if they take Elara, I will burn Blackwood Global to the ground."
"Don't let them drag you back into their darkness," Clara insisted softly, looking directly into his eyes. "You don't need to burn their world down. You just need to shine enough light to expose their lies. We are in this together now."
Meanwhile, Marcus was working quietly in New York. Posing as an independent security auditor, Marcus breached Arthur’s private digital archive at the Blackwood corporate tower. Deep within encrypted server logs, Marcus found the golden key: direct email exchanges between Arthur, Victoria, and an offshore banking entity in the Cayman Islands.
The emails proved that the financial fraud Julian was accused of had been actively engineered by Arthur six months prior to Julian’s departure. Arthur had personally authorized forged digital signatures using Julian’s old access codes to funnel thirty million dollars into off-books accounts to pay off corporate debts.
It was a setup—a masterwork of corporate framing.

"I have the proof, Julian," Marcus reported over an encrypted phone call that night. "It completely clears your name of any wrongdoing. But Arthur knows someone leaked it. He's dispatched his private security team to recover the drives. My location is compromised."
"Get out of the city immediately, Marcus," Julian ordered, his pulse pounding. "Head north to the coastal state line. I'll meet you at the old iron bridge."
