Chapter 11 - THE RETURN OF CLAIRETheir mother returned quietly.

No cameras.
No reporters.
No grand entrance.
She arrived at the Sanctuary before sunrise.
Mia was sitting beside the ocean when she saw her.
For a moment, neither moved.
Then Mia whispered:
“Mom?”
Claire began to cry.
Mia ran toward her.
They embraced.
Victoria watched from a distance.
She had imagined this moment thousands of times.
In every version, she had been angry.
Instead, she felt strangely empty.
Claire looked at her eldest daughter.
“You became so much like your father.”
Victoria smiled sadly.
“And you disappeared.”
Claire nodded.
“I did.”
“You should have told us.”
“I tried.”
“Why didn't you?”
“Because Eleanor found every letter.”
Victoria froze.
Claire explained.
Eleanor had intercepted communications.
Threatened witnesses.
Controlled doctors.
Controlled lawyers.
Controlled the family.
But Claire had survived.
She had waited.
And now, for the first time, she could finally tell her daughters the entire truth.
The Vance dynasty had not been built solely by Eleanor.
Their father had built the original company.
Eleanor had taken control after his death.
And when Claire tried to expose her financial crimes, Eleanor destroyed her reputation.
But Claire had kept copies of everything.
Including evidence that could reveal how far Eleanor's corruption truly went.
Victoria looked at her mother.
“Where is it?”
May you like
Claire smiled faintly.
“Somewhere Eleanor never thought to search.”
