Chapter 3 - THE DOCUMENTS Maria carried Leo downstairs.
Her hands were shaking.
She called Ethan.
"Mr. Mercer, please come home."
"What happened?"
"Victoria is behaving dangerously."
Ethan's voice immediately changed.
"Is Leo safe?"
"He's with me."
"I'll be there."
Minutes later, Victoria appeared in the living room.
But this time she carried something more dangerous than an iron.
A stack of legal documents.
Leo's trust papers.
His inheritance records.
His adoption and guardianship documents.
Maria stared at them.
"Where did you get those?"
Victoria smiled.
"I know where Ethan keeps everything."
She placed the documents on the table.
"Without these papers, proving Leo's claim becomes much harder."
Maria's face went pale.
"You can't destroy them."
Victoria picked up the iron.
"I'm not going to destroy them."
She looked directly at Leo.
"I'm going to erase his future."
Maria stepped between Victoria and the table.
"You'll have to go through me."
Victoria raised the iron.
Maria pushed her.
The iron crashed onto the marble floor.
Papers scattered everywhere.
Victoria fell against the sofa.
