Chapter 15: The Golden Harvest

Chapter 15: The Golden Harvest

The celebration that followed lasted long into the twilight hours under a canopy of twinkling string lights hung between the old oak trees.
Children ran through the green grass playing tag, acoustic guitars played sweet, festive melodies from the stage, and tables were overflowing with fresh food, wedding cake, and laughter shared among lifelong friends.
Lily stepped onto the stage, holding a freshly woven crown. But this crown was not made of artificial silk or fragile wire from a cold store.
It was hand-woven from real, fresh white wild roses, delicate green ivy, and tiny golden buttercups picked from the park’s sunlit gardens.
Lily walked up to Claire, who sat on the edge of the stage beside Gabriel, her hand resting happily in his.
"Mommy," Lily whispered softly, her eyes sparkling like stars beneath the glowing string lights. "Stand still for a second."
Claire smiled, kneeling down so she was eye-level with her daughter.
With gentle, delicate hands, Lily carefully placed the crown of real blooming roses onto Claire’s head. She smoothed back a strand of her mother’s hair, looking into Claire’s eyes with complete, unshakeable love.
"Is it heavy, Mommy?" Lily asked sweetly.
Claire reached up, touching the soft, fragrant rose petals resting on her brow. She looked at Gabriel, whose arm wrapped protectively around her shoulders, and then down at Lily—the precious, brave girl who had carried them through the storm into the light.
"No, my sweet girl," Claire answered, her heart overflowing with absolute, unbreakable peace. "It’s not heavy at all. It feels like love."
