Chapter 8: The Betrayal Within
The emergency shareholder meeting of Vance Global was convened in the grand auditorium of the Vance Tower. Arthur Vance sat at the head stage, flanked by his high-powered attorneys, looking triumphantly out at the gathered press and investors.
"Today marks a new era," Arthur proclaimed into the microphone, his voice dripping with arrogance. "Vance Global has secured sufficient leveraged capital to execute a controlling acquisition of Sterling Enterprises. By 5:00 PM today, Ethan Sterling will be stripped of his executive authority!"
The room buzzed with excitement as reporters scrambled to record the historic corporate slaughter.
Suddenly, the heavy oak doors at the back of the auditorium blew open. Ethan Sterling strode down the center aisle, impeccably dressed, radiating power. Alongside him walked Maya, looking stunning and regal, accompanied by a team of high-ranking federal corporate auditors.
"I wouldn't sign those transfer papers just yet, Arthur," Ethan’s voice boomed across the auditorium.
Arthur scoffed, a sneer twisting his face. "You're too late, Sterling! You can't match my capital reserves! You've lost!"
"He hasn't lost," Maya said, stepping forward, her voice projected through the room's sound system. "Because your capital reserves don't belong to you."
The federal lead auditor stepped up to the podium, placing an injunction order on Arthur’s desk. "Arthur Vance, by order of the Federal District Court, all financial assets, stock holdings, and operational accounts of Vance Global are frozen immediately pending the resolution of an emergency fraud and asset recovery lawsuit filed by Miss Maya Lin."
Arthur turned pale, his hands shaking as he grabbed the legal injunction. "This is nonsense! She's a nobody! A maid!"
"She is the sole legal heir of Dr. Eleanor Lin," the auditor stated coldly. "The true owner of the foundational patents behind Vance Global. Your company owes Miss Lin an estimated 1.2 billion dollars in unpaid back-royalties. Effective immediately, Miss Lin holds controlling voting power over Vance Global."
The auditorium exploded into pure chaos. Flashbulbs went off like lightning strikes. Shareholders began screaming at Arthur Vance as he slumped into his chair, his face drained of all color, his life’s work disintegrating before his eyes.
However, as Ethan and Maya walked out of the building surrounded by cheering supporters, Ethan’s phone buzzed with an urgent notification from his penthouse security system.
His chief head of security, Marcus, sounded panicked over the line. "Mr. Sterling! We have a breach at the penthouse! Your Vice President, Harrison... he was working with Arthur Vance all along! He used his executive clearance to override the security codes!"

"Harrison took her!" Marcus yelled over the sound of alarms. "They are heading toward the Vance mountain estate in the northern ridge! A storm is moving in!"
