Chapter 7 - THE CLINIC TRAPThe investigation led to a private pediatric clinic.

It looked harmless.

Bright walls.

Cartoon animals.

Families waiting with children.

But inside were forged medical records.

Fake prescriptions.

False diagnoses.

The records were designed to make Ethan appear seriously ill.

The woman running the operation was Celia Price.

Warren's daughter.

She confessed under pressure.

“Serena needed evidence.”

“Evidence of what?” Quinn asked.

“That Victor was an unfit father.”

Lily felt sick.

“They were going to hurt him until he looked sick enough for a judge to take him away.”

Celia nodded.

“The trust would then pass to Serena.”

“And Warren?”

“He would manage it.”

“And Damien?”

“Get paid.”

Victor walked outside.

The winter air burned his lungs.

For years he had believed his greatest threat was another criminal organization.

Another rival.

Another enemy.

He had never considered the possibility that the people inside his house were the ones trying to destroy him.

Quinn found another clue.

The original trust had been stored beneath Blackwood National Bank.

Three people had access.

Victor.

Warren.

August Montigue.

They arrived at the vault.

The door stood open.

Warren was unconscious.

The original trust was gone.

And taped to the wall was a wedding invitation.

Across Serena's name, someone had written:

TONIGHT.

Victor stared at it.

Then his phone rang.

Damien.

“Come to the Grand Marlowe.”

May you like

“Why?”

“Because if you don't, Warren dies.”
