Chapter 4 - THE SECRET IN THE BRIEFCASE Arthur walked into his private study.
"Come with me."
Victoria followed reluctantly.
Elena stayed behind with Maya, but Arthur stopped at the doorway.
"Elena. I want you to hear this too."
Inside the study, a black leather briefcase sat open on the desk.
Victoria's eyes immediately fell upon it.
Her breathing changed.
Arthur noticed.
"You know what is inside."
Victoria said nothing.
Arthur opened the first folder.
"Forensic accounting."
Another folder.
"Bank transfers."
Another.
"Power-of-attorney records."
Victoria's face became colorless.
Arthur looked directly at her.
"Six offshore accounts."
Silence.
"More than twelve million dollars."
Victoria shook her head.
"Those were investments."
"Personal accounts."
"Arthur—"
"Panama."
He opened another document.
"The Cayman Islands."
Victoria's lips trembled.
Arthur placed a final document on the desk.
"And forged signatures."
Victoria stared at it.
"You can't prove that."
Arthur's expression didn't change.
"I don't need to."
He tapped the folder.
"The forensic team already did."
Victoria suddenly realized something terrifying.
Arthur had not discovered her betrayal that morning.
He had known for a while.
He had been watching.
Waiting.
Collecting evidence.
"You set me up."
Arthur shook his head.
"No."

He leaned forward.
"You betrayed yourself."
