Chapter 5 - THE FALL OF VICTORIA VANCE Victoria backed away from the desk.
"You can't destroy me."
Arthur reached into the briefcase.
"I filed for the annulment this morning."
Victoria stared at him.
"Five years."
Arthur remained silent.
"You would throw away five years?"
"You threw them away."
Her eyes hardened.
"You think Elena is innocent?"
Elena stepped into the doorway.
Victoria pointed toward her.
"She manipulated you."
Arthur turned.
"Enough."
Victoria screamed.
"I gave this family everything!"
Arthur's voice became colder.
"You gave yourself everything."
A sound came from outside.
Footsteps.
Two police officers entered the mansion.
Victoria's confidence finally shattered.
Officer Davis approached.
"Victoria Vance?"
She stepped backward.
"No."
"We have a warrant for your arrest."
Victoria looked at Arthur.
"Please."
He said nothing.
"Arthur, please. We can fix this."
He looked at her one last time.
"You stopped being my wife when you threatened my family."
The handcuffs closed around her wrists.

The sound seemed to echo through the entire mansion.
Victoria was led toward the front door.
Before leaving, she turned.
"This isn't over."
Arthur watched her disappear.
