Chapter 11 - Ghosts of MonacoThree weeks later.

The Mediterranean sun sparkled brilliantly off the turquoise waters of Monte Carlo. Massive mega-yachts rocked gently in the harbor, their white hulls gleaming against the dramatic backdrop of the Maritime Alps.

In the private VIP recovery wing of the Princess Grace Hospital overlooking the bay, Victor sat up in bed, his left arm bound in a crisp black medical sling.

Sitting beside him was Mia, looking stunning in a tailored cream suit, holding a eight-month-old baby Tommy, who was happily bouncing a tiny toy sailboat on her lap.

"The French authorities completed the asset seizure yesterday," Mia said gently, taking a cup of warm tea from the side table. "Julian’s shell companies in Monaco and Zurich have been completely dismantled. Every dollar stolen from my father's trust has been returned to the Sterling-Vance Foundation."

Victor looked out the window toward the shining sea, taking a deep, reflective breath. "And Julian?"

"He was extradited back to the United States two days ago," Mia answered, her voice calm and settled. "He’s facing life without parole for corporate treason, murder, and conspiracy. Harrison and Evelyn have both accepted plea bargains to testify against him."

Victor turned his head, looking closely at Mia. The scared, desperate young mother who had huddled in the marble corridor of Sterling Manor three weeks ago was gone. In her place stood a confident, powerful woman—the true chairwoman of a global enterprise.

"What happens now, Chairwoman Sterling?" Victor asked, a subtle, warm glint of humor in his dark eyes.

Mia smiled softly, setting her cup down and placing her hand gently over Victor’s uninjured arm. "Now, we rebuild. But not the way my mother or Julian did. We’re turning Sterling Global into a green technology initiative. And I want you to head the global security division."

Victor looked down at her hand, then up into her warm eyes. "You still trust me after everything I was forced to do for Julian?"

"Victor," Mia said softly, her voice filled with deep sincerity. "You bled for my son. You took a bullet for me. You proved who you are when the darkness was at its absolute thickest. I don't just trust you with my company. I trust you with my life."
