Chapter 16 - Rooftop ConfrontationOne year later.

The summer sun shone brilliantly over Manhattan.

At the top of the newly renamed Sterling-Vance International Tower, a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony was being held on the landscaped sky-deck, four hundred feet above the city streets.

Hundreds of news reporters, international investors, and legal representatives stood applauding as Mia cut the ceremonial blue ribbon with a pair of gold shears.

"Today," Mia declared into the microphones, her voice echoing clearly across the broadcast networks, "we do not merely celebrate a new corporate headquarters. We celebrate a new beginning. A company built not on deception and greed, but on transparency, justice, and community investment."

The crowd broke into resounding applause.

Behind the press line, standing near the glass safety barrier, stood Victor, looking polished and handsome in a dark navy suit. Beside him, little Tommy—now a energetic, healthy toddler—was holding Victor’s hand, giggling as he pointed at a passing helicopter.

"Look, Victor! Flying!" Tommy chirped happily.

Victor knelt down, chuckling softly as he adjusted Tommy’s little jacket collar. "That's right, buddy. Sky's the limit for you."

Mia walked over, handing her speech notes to an assistant, and slid her hand into Victor’s arm. She looked down at her happy, thriving son, then up at Victor.

"He looks up to you, you know," Mia said softly, her eyes glowing with deep warmth.

Victor stood up, looking at her with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat. "I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure he never has to face the shadows we fought through."
