Knox was dragged out in heavy chains by federal marshals, while paramedics covered Evelyn’s body with a white sheet on the marble floor.
Mia sat on the sofa in the living room, holding Tommy tightly against her chest, rocking him gently as he peacefully fell back asleep. Victor sat beside her, gently wrapping a warm wool blanket around her shoulders.
Agent Sarah Reyes walked over, stepping past the forensic technicians. She looked at Mia with deep respect.
"It’s finally over, Mia," Reyes said softly. "Knox was the last lingering operative on Julian’s payroll. Every single asset, every loyalist, every shadow from your father's past has been brought into the light."

Mia looked up from her sleeping son, looking out toward the rain-slicked gardens outside the window. The storm was finally beginning to pass, the first faint pink rays of dawn cutting through the dark storm clouds over the valley.
"It’s over," Mia agreed, a peaceful, beautiful smile finally illuminating her face.
