Chapter 13: Shattered Mirrors

Three months later.
The autumn air was crisp and clear over the rolling hills of New York’s Hudson Valley.
The grand Vance Manor had undergone a total transformation. The cold, imposing black velvet drapes and dark oak paneling that Eleanor had insisted upon were gone, replaced by floor-to-ceiling glass windows, warm white walls, light maple wood, and rooms filled with vibrant flowers and bright sunlight.
In the central courtyard, a stunning new bronze sculpture had been erected—a fountain depicting two intertwined olive branches surrounding a central flame, dedicated to Arthur and Thomas Vance.
Inside the grand study, Ethan, Clara, and Helena were holding a private meeting with the board of directors and legal representatives.
"Everything has been finalized," the lead attorney announced, placing a golden leather binder on the table. "The merger between Vance Corp and Sterling Global is complete. All frozen assets from Julian Sterling’s accounts—totaling $1.4 billion—have been successfully recovered by the treasury."
Clara looked at Ethan, then at Helena. "And what about our proposal for the foundation?"
"The board has fully ratified it, CEO Clara," the attorney smiled warmly. "Fifty percent of all annual profits from Sterling-Vance Global will be permanently directed to the Helena & Arthur Sterling Memorial Foundation."
Helena wiped a small tear from her eye, clutching Clara’s hand tightly. "What will the foundation focus on?"
"On protecting vulnerable mothers and children," Ethan explained, his eyes shining with deep passion. "Funding private orphanages, providing free legal aid for victims of corporate abuse, and building world-class maternal healthcare centers across the country. No child will ever be stolen, and no mother will ever be silenced again."
Mia entered the study carrying a tray of iced tea, her face glowing with genuine happiness. "Miss Clara, Mr. Ethan... the guests are beginning to arrive for the dedication ceremony!"

Ethan stood up, adjusting his tie, and offered his arm to his mother. "Shall we, Mother?"
Helena smiled brightly, taking his arm with pride. "It would be my honor, my son."
