As the car glided through the quiet night toward Long Island, Richard pulled out his phone. He opened a private, encrypted folder on his screen.
Inside were hundreds of photos of Claire and Sophie from years past—holidays in Paris, summers on the beach, quiet mornings in their NYC apartment.
He swiped to the last photo taken before Claire’s death. She was laughing, holding a six-year-old Sophie on her shoulders in a field of green grass.
