The morning sun broke over Manhattan, casting a warm, golden light across the rebuilt floor of Vance Global Headquarters. The shattered windows had been replaced with bulletproof obsidian glass, and the board room had been completely renovated into a sleek, state-of-the-art command center.
Julian Vance stood by the massive floor-to-ceiling window, wearing a tailored navy suit. His jaw bore a tiny, faded scar—the only visible reminder of the war in the Swiss Alps.
The door opened softly.
Maria walked in, wearing an elegant white silk blouse and black pencil skirt. She held a leather portfolio in her hands.
"The federal investigations against Vance Global have been officially dropped," Maria reported, a light smile on her lips. "The SEC cleared us of all charges. Victoria and Sophia have been sentenced to life in maximum-security federal facilities with no possibility of parole. Alexander’s shadow syndicate has been completely liquidated."
Julian turned around, looking at her. "And the stock?"
"Hit an all-time high this morning," Maria replied. She set the portfolio on his desk. "The board of directors—the new, hand-picked board—has voted unanimously to confirm your permanent position as Chairman and CEO."
Julian looked down at the documents, then back at Maria.
"I signed the paper this morning, Maria," Julian said softly. "But not for the CEO position."
Maria blinked, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Julian walked around the desk, stopping right in front of her. He picked up a document from the folder and handed it to her.
"I am stepping down as active CEO," Julian announced smoothly. "I’m appointing a professional management trust to handle daily corporate operations."
Maria was stunned. "Julian... Vance Global is your life’s work. Why would you step down?"

"Vance Global was my empire," Julian said gentle. "But Leo is my life. I wasted too much time fighting monsters in the dark. I want to watch my son grow up."
