Chapter 3 - The Shadow HeiressThe Vance Safehouse was an underground fortress built beneath an abandoned vineyard in upstate New York. Reinforcement steel, biometric airlocks, and advanced surveillance arrays made it virtually impenetrable. While the news media above ground was reporting a 'tragic gas explosion' at the Vance Estate, Julian was sitting in a high-tech war room, staring at three floating monitors filled with stock tickers and biometric scans.

Leo was resting peacefully in a bulletproof nursery on the lower level, guarded round-the-clock by automated defense turrets and two elite security guards.
Maria walked into the command center carrying two cups of black coffee. She set one down next to Julian.
"You haven't slept in thirty-six hours," she said, her voice dropping the formal tone now that they were alone. "Even titans bleed, Julian."
Julian took a sip, his eyes never leaving the screen. "If I sleep, the market opens in four hours, and Marcus’s hidden algorithms will execute a short-sell on Vance Global stock. They’re trying to crash the company from the inside, trigger a board vote, and force an emergency takeover."
"We intercepted Marcus’s primary flash drive from his office," Maria said, pulling a sleek silver device from her pocket. "Our tech team bypassed the encryption. Victoria wasn't just Marcus's pawn. She was sending copies of your personal biometric key to an IP address located in Monaco."
Julian leaned back in his leather chair, a dark chuckle escaping his lips. "Monaco. That’s where Alexander’s old mistress, Countess Sophia, runs her private auction house."
"You think Sophia is running the Syndicate now?" Maria asked, her brows furrowing.
"Sophia is clever, but she lacks the military resources to deploy a twelve-man tactical team with class-four explosive gear," Julian reasoned. "She’s a broker. Someone is buying my life, piece by piece."
Suddenly, an alarm chimed softly on the console. A high-priority encrypted incoming call flashed on the main screen. The caller ID read: UNKNOWN SATELLITE FEED.
Julian pressed the receiver button. "Talk."
A heavily voice-modulated laughter filled the room, sending a chill down the spine of anyone listening.
"Hello, little brother," the voice distorted through the speakers. "You always were so dramatic with your grand traps. Poor Marcus. He really thought he was going to be CEO."
Julian didn't flinch. His fingers silently tapped the desk, signaling Maria to start tracing the signal origin.
"Alexander," Julian said, his tone icy. "You survived the crash."
"Survived? No, Julian. I orchestrated it," the voice replied smoothly. "I needed to disappear so I could build something far greater than Vance Global. But you took my empire. You took my wealth. And worst of all... you had an heir. A weak, helpless little baby."
Julian stood up slowly, leaning over the console, his aura emanating lethal promise.
"If you so much as utter my son's name again, Alexander, I will tear down every wall, every city, and every offshore account holding your shadow empire together. I will personally bury you in the ground you crawled out of."
"Threats won't save your company, Julian," Alexander taunted. "Check the news. The SEC just received an anonymous package containing forged documents showing Vance Global is under investigation for international money laundering. By noon today, your board will strip you of your CEO title. Enjoy the fall."
The call disconnected.

Maria looked up from her screen, her face grim. "The signal bounced through forty proxy servers across Asia and Eastern Europe. Untraceable. And Julian... he wasn't lying. The Wall Street Journal just broke the story."
Julian adjusted his cuffs, his dark eyes ablaze with calculating fire. "Then we don't play by Wall Street's rules anymore. Maria, get the jet ready. We’re flying to Wall Street. It's time to show the Board what happens when they try to cage a wolf."
