Chapter 15 - THE ESTATE The estate was surrounded by forest.
Police surrounded the property before we entered.
Inside, we found rooms filled with files.
Years of evidence.
Names.
Payments.
Photographs.
Victor had documented everything.
He believed he was untouchable.
That arrogance became his downfall.
In the final room, we found him.
He looked at Serena.
Then at me.
“You should have stayed grieving,” he said.
Serena stepped forward.
“You should have let me go.”
Victor smiled.
“I couldn't.”
“Why?”
“Because you knew too much.”
Police entered.
Victor raised his hands.
