Chapter 14 - The Final Showdown"Mother!" Ethan yelled, stepping in front of Clara to shield her. "It's over! The police have surrounded the building! There's nowhere left to run!"

Eleanor laughed—a frantic, manic sound that echoed off the cold steel walls. "Run? Why would I run from my own legacy? If I cannot own Sterling Global, then nobody will! This detonator is wired to the primary gas line under this floor. One press, and we all go up in glory together!"
"You're insane," Clara called out, stepping out from behind Ethan, her voice ringing with absolute coldness. "You destroyed your own family, Eleanor. You murdered my father, tortured my mother, and tried to kill your own grandchild. Look at you! You're nothing but a pathetic shadow clinging to broken money!"
"SHUT UP!" Eleanor screamed, her hand trembling violently over the red button of the detonator. "I built this empire! I am the queen of Sterling!"
"No," Ethan said softly, taking a slow step toward the stairs leading up to the catwalk. "You were never a queen, Mother. You were just a prisoner of your own greed. But I am breaking the chain today."
Ethan lunged forward with explosive speed!
"NO!" Eleanor shrieked, pressing the button!
Sparks erupted along the ceiling as electrical charges blew across the circuit breakers! Ethan tackled Eleanor across the metal catwalk, knocking the detonator out of her grip. It tumbled down into the dark, flooded water below!
They crashed onto the iron grating. Eleanor fought like a cornered animal, scratching and clawing at Ethan's face, but Ethan pinned her wrists to the floor with immovable strength.
"Clara! Insert the key NOW!" Ethan shouted over the roar of alarm sirens.
Clara sprinted to the terminal console, slammed the micro-key into the slot, and turned it 90 degrees!
