Chapter 21: The Masterstroke

The auditorium was dead silent as Lily stepped up to the secondary microphone on the grand stage. She plugged her drive into the master podium, projection screens lighting up behind her with indisputable digital evidence.
"For the past three weeks," Lily spoke, her voice clear, resounding, and completely devoid of fear, "a coordinated attempt was made to sabotage our sanctuaries. Fake accounts were created, documents were forged, and threats were made against innocent people."
She pressed a button, playing an audio file clear as crystal through the hall’s speakers. It was Vance's recorded voice from the previous night, explicitly detailing his plan to frame Arthur and seize control of the sanctuary database.
"Julian Vance didn't want to save children," Lily continued, looking directly at Vance, whose face was now completely drained of color. "He wanted to turn our protection network into a commodity for his private interests. But he forgot one thing: truth is not for sale."
The audience erupted into loud gasps and furious chatter. Federal agents stepped onto the stage, placing handcuffs on Julian Vance right in front of the world's press corps.
Vance turned back to glare at Arthur, his arrogance shattered into pieces. "This isn't over, Sterling!"
"It is over, Julian," Arthur replied softly, standing beside Maria and Lily. "You tried to destroy a family. You ended up destroying yourself."

As Vance was escorted out of the hall under the blinding flashes of news cameras, the delegates in the auditorium rose to their feet, delivering a resounding, standing ovation that echoed off the high glass walls.
Lily looked over at Arthur and Maria. Maria reached out, taking Lily's hand in hers, while Arthur wrapped his arm around both of them. The storm had broken, and the light had returned stronger than ever.
