Chapter 7 - Pier 42At midnight, I entered the warehouse.
The East River slammed against the pilings below.
Marcus stood beneath a flickering light.
He raised his gun.
“Where's my money?”
“There isn't any.”
His face twisted.
“You think you're untouchable?”
“No.”
I stepped closer.
“I know exactly who can touch me.”
Red laser dots appeared around him.
Dominic's men emerged from the shadows.
Marcus froze.
His gun slipped from his hand.
I retrieved Hannah's leather bag.
Inside was her mother's wedding ring.
I looked at Marcus.
“You wanted to destroy her life.”
He said nothing.
“Instead, you gave me another reason to protect it.”
Marcus was arrested and transferred into federal custody.
For the first time, Hannah's past could no longer reach through the shadows.
But I knew our war wasn't finished.
Marcus had been a parasite.
