Chapter 15 - The Second FuneralThree days later, Sofia received an anonymous message.

Come alone.

The location was a cemetery.

She arrived at dusk.

At the center stood a fresh grave.

The name on the stone was:

Alessandro Valenti.

Leonardo's father.

But the grave was empty.

A voice came from behind her.

“You finally came.”

Helena.

Sofia turned.

Helena looked exhausted.

Older.

Broken.

For the first time, she didn't look powerful.

“You killed him,” Sofia said.

Helena shook her head.

“I didn't.”

“You ordered it.”

“I ordered the first attempt.”

Sofia's eyes narrowed.

“But the second?”

Helena looked away.

“Someone else did.”

“Who?”

Helena whispered:

“Leonardo.”

Sofia froze.

“What?”

Helena explained.

Leonardo's father had discovered that someone close to him was stealing from the company.

He confronted the person.

The confrontation turned violent.

Leonardo, still a teenager, entered the room.

He saw the struggle.

And someone used him as a weapon.

“He didn't kill his father,” Helena said. “But he was made to believe he did.”

Sofia stepped closer.

“Who manipulated him?”

Helena looked into her eyes.

“Your father.”

Sofia recoiled.

“No.”

“Your father sacrificed Leonardo to save himself.”

The truth shattered everything.

Sofia walked away.

But before she reached the gate, Helena called after her.

“Ask Leonardo what he remembers about the night your father died.”

Sofia stopped.

Because she already knew.

Leonardo remembered a gunshot.

And he had never told her.
