Chapter 4 : The Boardroom Execution

Chapter 4 : The Boardroom Execution

The corporate headquarters of Thorne Industries was a monolith of glass and steel, towering over the city skyline.

Inside the top-floor boardroom, the atmosphere was triumphant. Victor Thorne, Marcus’s treacherous uncle, sat at the head of the massive mahogany table. Beside him sat Lorenzo Rossi, Isabella’s father. The two men were drinking aged scotch, celebrating the coup they had just orchestrated in Marcus’s absence.

"With Marcus distracted at the hospital, the emergency vote is unanimous," Victor announced to the twelve board members. "We officially declare Marcus Thorne unfit to serve as CEO. Lorenzo, your family’s merger will proceed immediately. As for my niece, Isabella... the charges will quietly disappear by Friday."

"An elegant solution to a messy problem," Lorenzo smirked, swirling his glass. "That pregnant commoner almost ruined everything. It’s a shame the fall didn't finish the job."

The heavy oak doors of the boardroom suddenly exploded open.

The heavy thud echoed like a gunshot.

Marcus Thorne walked into the room. He wasn't wearing his usual tailored suit. He wore a dark, casual trench coat, his eyes bloodshot from a sleepless night in the NICU, his jaw covered in a rough shadow. He looked less like a billionaire CEO and more like an apex predator who had finally been unchained.

Behind him walked a team of men in dark windbreakers. The bright yellow letters on their backs read: FBI.

Victor dropped his scotch glass. It shattered over the imported rug.

"Marcus!" Victor stammered, standing up so fast his chair tipped over. "What is the meaning of this? You cannot bring federal agents into a closed corporate board meeting!"

"You don't own this company anymore, Victor," Marcus said, his voice deadly calm as he walked slowly toward the table. "Neither do you, Lorenzo."

"You have no power here!" Lorenzo roared, his face flushing red. "The board just voted you out! You are nothing!"

Marcus stopped at the edge of the table. He reached into his coat and tossed the white envelope onto the polished mahogany. It slid perfectly to a stop in front of Victor.

"Open it," Marcus commanded.

Victor’s hands trembled as he opened the flap. He pulled out the Genesis Ledger. The blood drained from his face entirely.

"My wife went to the federal prosecutor yesterday morning," Marcus announced, his voice carrying to every corner of the room. "She handed over the digital copies of that ledger. She exposed the embezzlement, the bribes, and the shadow accounts that you and the Rossi family have used to manipulate this market for a decade."

Pandemonium erupted. Board members began shouting, scrambling for their phones.

"You fool!" Lorenzo screamed, lunging across the table. "You just destroyed your own father’s legacy! You destroyed your own wealth!"

"My legacy is in a hospital incubator fighting for her life because of your psychotic daughter," Marcus roared, his voice finally exploding with the wrath he had held back for twenty-four hours. "My wealth means nothing if I have to share a world with monsters like you."

Marcus turned to the lead FBI agent and nodded.

"Lorenzo Rossi, Victor Thorne, you are both under arrest for racketeering, corporate fraud, and conspiracy," the agent declared, as federal marshals poured into the room, slapping handcuffs onto the struggling billionaires.

As Lorenzo was dragged violently past him, Marcus leaned in close, his voice a chilling whisper.

"Isabella is being transferred to a federal penitentiary right now," Marcus said. "There is no bail. There is no judge you can buy. Your family is finished. And I am the one who pulled the trigger."

Marcus walked out of the boardroom, the sounds of shouting and arrests fading behind him. He didn't look back at the empire he had just burned to the ground. He had a family to return to.
