Behind him stood three men.
Board members.
Traitors.
David realized the entire conspiracy had been larger than he imagined.
Martin looked at Eleanor.
“You failed.”
She stared at him.
“You promised me everything.”
“I promised you survival.”
“And what about me?”
Martin raised his weapon.
“You were never part of the plan.”
Eleanor's face twisted.
She shot Martin.
The bullet struck his shoulder.
Chaos erupted.
Police stormed the floor.
David pulled Sarah behind cover.
Martin fired wildly.
One of the board members surrendered.
Another jumped through a window.
Eleanor ran.
David chased her.
They reached the rooftop.
Wind tore across the unfinished tower.
Eleanor stood at the edge.
“You took everything from me!”
“You took my wife.”
“I gave you a life!”
“You destroyed it!”
She stepped backward.
Her heel slipped.
David grabbed her wrist.
For one second, he could have let go.
Instead, he pulled her back.
“You don't get to die,” he said.
“You have to live with what you did.”
Police arrested her.
David returned to Sarah.
She held him tightly.
“We're going home.”
